Dr. Shawna Young is in her 14th year at CSU Stanislaus. She holds a joint appointment as the Interim Director of Research and Sponsored Programs and Director of the Center for Excellence in Graduate Education. Previously, Dr. Young served as Professor of Kinesiology. She has spent 5 years teaching/coaching in K-12 schools. Her multifaceted professional appointments are reflected in her diverse research agenda, encompassing in-review,in-press, and published articles related to areas such as: student engagement in research as a high impact practice; incorporating community-based learning in graduate education; graduate student needs and support services; lesson context and student behavior in physical education; concerns of preservice physical education teachers; and assessment practices in physical education. Dr. Young received a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Boise State University, a master's in Exercise and Sport Studies at Boise State University, and a bachelor's in Physical Education at CSU Stanislaus.
