New Graduate Student Welcome Event and Orientation
August 19, 2019 • 5:30 - 7:30 pm • MSR 130
Sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Graduate Education (CEGE), the New Graduate Student Welcome Event and Orientation helps prepare the incoming class for graduate student life at Stan State. The program includes activities to help aquaint students with the many academic and student support services available at Stan State. Additionally, this event provides networking opportunities through which students can interact with their peers, faculty, and campus representatives. One of the most interesting activities of the event is the student panel in which current and former graduate students share their experiences and strategies to succeed during their graduate education. This year, participants of the student panel talked about the following topics: The impostor syndrome, balancing family and work, networking in graduate education, the importance of academic writing, and stress management.
THANK YOU to everyone who attended and made this event a success! In particular, we are appreciative to the graduate students who served on the panel (Daniel Marker, Joseph Carranza, Jesus Verdugo, Araceli Hernandez, and Kandiss Ulm ), and the following individuals who provided information about their programs:
