Monday, June 4, 2018

Dear Campus Community,

It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of one of our recent graduates, Tyler Schripsema. Tyler tragically passed away after a swimming accident while attending a music festival in Bradley, California. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family as they deal with this devastating loss.

Tyler graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was a student in the University Honors Program. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and its philanthropy chairman, an Eagle Scout and founder of the marketing club at Stan State. He also worked at New Student Orientation. Tyler was an outstanding, actively involved and caring student on campus, and he will be missed by many.

Theta Chi Fraternity will hold a candlelight vigil this Thursday, June 7, at sunset,     8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. in the Amphitheater. Theta Chi has also set up a Go Fund Me account in Tyler’s memory.

Funeral services for Tyler will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 1 p.m. at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock. A memorial will immediately follow the services.

Please join us in wishing the family our heartfelt sympathies during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Ellen Junn, Ph.D.
President
