Message to the Campus Community about Thousand Oaks Shooting

November 8, 2018

Dear Campus Community,

It is with a profoundly heavy heart that I write today with regard to thetragic mass shooting that occurred during College Night at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks near Los Angeles last night. This senseless tragedy resulted in at least 12 deaths and far more physical and psychological trauma.

Our hearts are broken and we extend our deepest condolences to all ofthe victims, their families, friends and, indeed, the entire community. As we process this tragedy, we encourage any member of our campus community who is in need of support to seek assistance.

Our counselors are available through Psychological Counseling Services (PCS) during open hours to see students. Psychological support is also available 24-hours at (209) 558-4600.

Students may also require support outside of direct counseling. TheOffice of the Dean of Students is available to assist with any accommodations or questions at (209) 667-3177.

Despite our heavy hearts, let us hold all those affected by this shooting in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Ellen Junn, Ph.D.
