January 28, 2019
Dear Campus Community,
It is with regret that I write to inform you that due to personal reasons, Dr. Matthew Lopez-Phillips, has resigned from his role as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students as of January 25, 2019.
Dr. Lopez-Phillips says, “I am writing to inform you of my decision to step down as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the students, staff, and faculty during my tenure at Stanislaus State. At this time, personal reasons necessitate that I vacate my position. However, I will remain available to the campus and President Junn through the end of the academic term. I look forward to observing the continued positive changes in the division and University.”
On behalf of the students and the campus, please join me in thanking Dr. Lopez-Phillips for his service to and support of our students, and his leadership within the division of Student Affairs. We appreciate that Dr. Lopez-Phillips has agreed to make himself available to me, as needed, through the remainder of the academic term. We wish him continued success in the future.
During this transition, Mr. Ron Noble, has agreed to return to serve as the interim Dean of Students. More information will be provided regarding the search for a permanent dean of students once the new Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Christine Erickson is on campus in early March.
Ellen Junn, Ph.D.
