Dr. George Boodrookas, a Modesto native, recently retired from Modesto Junior College and has launched a new business, Philanthropia Consulting, assisting non-profit organizations with their fundraising and operations management needs. In his most recent assignment at Modesto Junior College, Dr. Boodrookas was dean of advancement and executive director of the MJC Foundation. He served as an administrator at MJC for 33 years. Prior to his most recent assignment, he was director of workforce development before serving as dean of community & economic development.

Dr. Boodrookas is a graduate of Thomas Downey High School in Modesto and the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies. He earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Stan State. George later enrolled in the inaugural class of the Stanislaus State Doctoral Program in Education and completed his dissertation in the summer of 2013.

Dr. Boodrookas is past president of the Network of California Community College Foundations Board of Directors, an advisor to the Modesto Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Yosemite Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is a member of the Modesto Rotary Club and serves on the board of directors of Learning Quest Stanislaus Literacy Centers.

Dr. Boodrookas is a resident of Modesto with his partner, Anna, a 40-year employee of Foster Farms. They have two grown children. Dr. Boodrookas volunteers on various non-profit boards and enjoys cycling, softball, golf, estate sales and travel.
