Fall 2020 Prose Creative Writing Contest

Now accepting submissions from ALL current Stan State students.

  • All genres (fiction, non-fiction, hybrid literature) are welcome.
  • The top SIX winners will win a $100 e-gift card and a seat in the special prose workshop held by Nancy Au on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 1-4 p.m. (on Zoom).
  • The top ONE winner for the prose contest will earn a guaranteed publication in the Penumbra's Spring 2021 print edition.

Terms of Entry

  • Each participant may submit a maximum total of 2,500 words, whether in the form of a single piece or several flash fiction pieces.
  • Participants must fill out and submit the application with their submission.
  • If you enter this contest and are chosen, you must be able to attend the prose workshop.

Meet the Judge

Nancy Au is the winner of The Vestal Review's 2018 VERA flash fiction prize, author of Spider Love Songs and Other Stories, and was longlisted for the 2020 Pen/Robert W. Bingham Award.

She will also host the prose workshop via Zoom on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020
1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
