The Washington Monthly and The Princeton Review announced their annual college rankings and Stanislaus State has again earned high marks and recognition on the publications’ lists.
For a fourth consecutive year, Stan State earned a Top 10 spot on the Washington Monthly’s “Best Bang for the Buck” in the West list, placing No. 7. Universities included on the list are ranked based on how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.
Stan State also made The Monthly’s Top 20 list for the quality of its master’s programs, earning the No. 17 spot in the nation. The Monthly announced its rankings Aug. 30 and featured the results in its September/October issue.
Since 2005, The Washington Monthly has ranked colleges and universities on three broad criteria:
- the degree to which they recruit and graduate students of modest means (with Pell Grants as the main data point);
- produce scholarship and scholars that drive economic growth and human flourishing with federal research dollars serving as a central measure; and
- encourage students to be active citizens, with national and community service participation as key variables.
The Princeton Review, meanwhile, announced its Best 387 Colleges: 2022 Edition rankings on Aug. 31 and Stanislaus State made the cut for a 16th consecutive year. Along with being included on The Review’s national honor roll, Stan State also made its list of the top 126 academically outstanding universities in the West.
The Princeton Review has produced its Best Colleges resource since 1992.
