Solo Performance, Accompanying and Chamber Music

Piano students at CSU Stanislaus have many performance opportunities throughout their course of study in the Piano Performance major. Piano master class is held weekly in Snider Hall so students can get used to performing on a concert instrument in a formal concert venue. Likewise, students perform once a semester for the entire Department in connection with enrollment in MUS 2880/4880 Directed Listening. Junior and Senior recitals are capstone events that expand repertoire and performing confidence, preparing students to audition successfully for graduate programs if they wish and to continue their careers as practicing musicians.

Courses in Accompanying and Chamber Music afford piano majors at CSU Stanislaus the opportunity of performing with other students both on and off campus. Regular coaching with faculty give pianists ample opportunity to understand the general issues relating to ensemble playing and to develop specific pieces for public performance. For students who are qualified by audition, the Department of Music also hires pianists to accompany in the voice lessons and to perform with vocal students. Many students receive job opportunities in the community in schools and churches as a result of their experiences in these courses.
