Janice L. Herring

Lecturer, Warrior Fitness Center Director

A consultant to the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports since 1993, Herring has also been very active in the Southwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. Having previously served as a Wellness Coordinator for a major employer. Herring brings her expertise in wellness, exercise physiology fitness, and health to the CSU Stanislaus campus. Not long after joining the faculty of the Department of Physical Education and Health in 1993, she created the Wellness Management Concentration for the Major. Additionally, Herring has served on the CSUS Health Advisory Commission. Herring serves as the Director of Warrior Fitness Canter, which had its grand opening in September 1999. As an advocate of student-centered learning, Herring provides numerous opportunities for students through laboratory experiences and involvement in such activities as Wellness Challenge, Fitness Expo, CPR Saturday, American Heart Walk, Daffodil Days, and National Employee Health and Fitness Day.
