What is Rideshare?

The Rideshare program is designed to promote alternative modes of transportation for faculty and staff at Stanislaus State. The focus of the Rideshare program is to encourage faculty and staff to:

  1. Find alternative modes of transportation such as carpooling, public transportation, walking, or riding a bike.
  2. Take a step towards a healthier life by walking or riding a bike.
  3. Learn about the financial benefits of carpooling, public transportation, walking, or riding a bike to work.

Carpooling or taking public transportation is a good way to go when you are trying to cut down on expenses. If you live in the surrounding cities of Turlock then you can easily find a public transportation route. Or if you and some co-workers find that carpooling is a good option then be sure to look at the Guaranteed Ride Home Program to help ease your doubts leaving your vehicle at home in case an emergency should occur.

Walking

Another mode of transportation to consider if you live close to the campus is walking. Not only does is save money on transportation, the health benefits are incredible:

  1. Reduced chance of heart attack and stroke.
  2. Lowers risk of diabetes.
  3. Reduces stress
  4. Increases energy
  5. Weight loss

Biking

Riding a bicycle to and from work is a great alternative transportation choice that is fun and supports a healthy lifestyle. Whether your current bike needs a tune up or you are in the market for a new one, these local bike shops are a great place to start.
