Que Siga la Cumbia is a short documentary about the Oakland-based dance party, Queer Qumbia, and the importance of queer and transgender people of color taking up public space in a quickly gentrifying region like the San Francisco Bay Area. Mariposa documents recently-married couple, Castro and Candy, as they try to grow their family. Castro, a masculine-of-center, high school teacher feels compelled to experience pregnancy, but she is overwhelmed with anxiety about how becoming pregnant will shift her masculine presentation. But the biggest challenge? They discover the physical, emotional and often hilarious challenges of trying to make a baby the queer way! There will be a Q&A after the short documentary with film-maker, Candy Guinea.
