New Program Applicants

The following requirements have been temporarily changed for new Credential Program applicants: 

  • 45 hours of Early Field Experience - This requirement has been waived for the FALL 2022 application period. 
  • Basic Skills Requirement - Applicants who are using CBEST to fulfill the Basic Skills Requirement may be admitted to program for FALL 2022 without passing exam scores if they are unable to register for the exam due to test site closure or capacity issues caused by COVID-19. Proof of test site closure or capacity issues MUST be submitted with application.
  • Fulfilling Basic Skills is required to student teach. 
  • For information on alternative methods to fulfill this requirement, please contact credentials@csustan.edu 
  • Subject Matter Competency - Applicants who are using CSET to fulfill the Subject Matter Competency requirement may be admitted to program for FALL 2022 without passing exam scores if they are unable to register for the exam due to test site closure or capacity issues caused by COVID-19. Proof of test site closure or capacity issues MUST be submitted with application.
  • Fulfilling Subject Matter Competency is required to student teach.

These changes to our admission requirements are currently active for FALL 2022 applicants. If they are extended beyond FALL 2022, we will update this page accordingly.
