We are looking for positive, assertive undergraduate students that exhibit leadership skills to be Student Marshals at this year's Commencement Ceremonies. Student Marshals are an integral part of the success of the Commencement Ceremonies. They are responsible for ushering graduates into and out of the amphitheater, as well as seating graduates in an efficient manner.

To thank Student Marshals for their service, they will receive a complementary cap and gown when they graduate!

Deadline to apply is Friday, April 5, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Marshal Information & Responsibilities

Student Marshals are an integral part of the success of the Commencement ceremonies. They are responsible for ushering graduates into and out of the amphitheater and seating graduates in an efficient manner. Marshals also assist with duties prior to the ceremony, such as program and water distribution. As a marshal, you will need to make quick assessments of situations and problems that may arise and be able to establish an appropriate solution. Marshals need to be able to remain positive, assertive, and effective even in stressful situations. This is a unique opportunity to exercise and develop fundamental leadership skills while working with your peers.

Student Marshals must be available to serve on Thursday, May 23 from 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, May 24 from 6:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon, as well as attend one training session on Tuesday, May 21 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the position of Student Marshal, applicants must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student with an expected graduation term after Spring 2019.

The most qualified applicants will be selected and contacted by Friday, April 19, based on involvement at Stanislaus State and volunteer experience. Those selected for the position of Student Marshal will be acknowledged in the Commencement program and receive a complementary cap and gown upon their completion of all degree requirements.
