We are dedicated to cultivating a welcoming and supportive environment that enhances success and advancement for all students, faculty, and staff regardless of personal experiences, values, and world views that arise from differences of culture and circumstance including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, language, socioeconomic status, geographical context, and abilities/disabilities. We also provide the leadership and structure for the campus to engage in assessment on issues of equity, inclusion, and diversity, as well as increase the effectiveness of existing programs and services, develop new programs and services, build consensus and support, and model equitable and inclusive outcomes.

Statement on Website Accessibility

Understanding the Accessible Technology Initiative

The Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) reflects the California State University's (CSU) ongoing commitment to provide access to information resources and technologies to individuals with disabilities. This commitment is articulated in Executive Order 1111 (EO 1111), the CSU Board of Trustees Policy on Disability Support and Accommodations:

"It is the policy of the CSU to make information technology resources and services accessible to all CSU students, faculty, staff and the general public regardless of disability."

Accessible Technology Initiatives

  • Vision: To create a culture of access for an inclusive learning and working environment.
  • Mission: To help CSU campuses in carrying out EO 926 by developing guidelines, implementation strategies, tools, and resources.
  • Principle: To apply universal design, an approach to the design of products and services to be usable by the greatest number of people, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Strategy: To stimulate collaboration to affect changes that will ultimately benefit all.

Coded Memorandum AA-2015-22 is an addendum to Coded Memorandum AA-2013-03. These memos guide ATI implementations across the CSU system.

Successful implementation of the ATI at Stanislaus State requires campus-wide participation. The process needs to be inclusive since it requires individual action by hundreds of faculty and staff. The ATI Steering Committee provides oversight for ATI implementation and support to four ad hoc committees for the following.

  • Accessibility Basics
  • Web Accessibility
  • Instructional Materials Accessibility
  • Procurement of Accessible Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

California State University, Stanislaus is actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of the website and in doing so adheres to many of the available standards and guidelines. Although every effort is made to present fully accessible content on this website, a number of accessibility issues still need to be resolved.  We are aware of the following issues and are working to address them:

  • Uploaded images may not have text alternatives because we cannot ensure the quality of contributions
  • Archived documents might not work with current assistive technologies because they use outdated technologies that do not support accessibility
  • Video captioning

California State University, Stanislaus does not discriminate in its education and employment programs on the basis of religion, age, race, color, national origin, gender, marital or parental status, or disability and complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX Education Amendments of 1972, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.

In order to further our commitment to nondiscrimination, we are continuing to work on the website in order to ensure the site conforms to level Double-A World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. Such guidelines detail best practices for ensuring assistive technology users can access the site. The guidelines also make the site more user-friendly for all people.
