Online Writing Tutoring

Online Tutoring (Fall/Spring Only)

To make an appointment:

  1. If this is your first time making an appointment, you must register to create an account at csustan.mywconline.com.  From then on, you can just log in for future appointments.
     
  2. Once your account has been created, you'll see the Writing Center's Schedule.    
  • White blocks are open times for appointments.​
  • Blue blocks show when other students have already scheduled appointments.  
  • Purple blocks are when the online center is closed.  

Click on the 60-minute open white block that you'd like to schedule for your online appointment. 

Once you've made an appointment, when you log back into the schedule, you'll see your appointment as a gold/yellow block. 

What to Do at Your Appointment Time:

  • At the time of your appointment, return to the schedule and click on the gold/yellow box indicating your appointment time.
  • Under your name on the appointment form, click on Start or Join Online Consultation
  • We encourage you to try the video/audio features.  Allow WC Online to access your camera and mic to have a face-to-face chat with your online tutor.  
  • Instructions for your tutoring session will appear immediately upon entering the session.  If you don't need the information on the screen that explains how to use the site's functions, delete the text already present in the session.
  • Paste in your paper!  It won't look exactly as it does in Word, but the text will be there. 
  • Your tutor will guide you through the rest of the session
  • When finished, simply close the window!

Online Appointment Policies

How often can I sign up for online tutoring?  You can sign up for an online tutoring appointment once per day and twice per week, with a limit of six times per month.  

Can I sign-up for an online tutoring appointment in advance?  Yes, you can sign up for an appointment up to 7 days in advance.

What if all the appointment blocks are taken?  Is there a waiting list?  Yes, there is a waiting list.  Click on the clock icon next to the day of the week you would like to sign up for, and a window will pop up for you to sign up to be on the waiting list.  When someone cancels their appointment, all on the waiting list will be notified by email.

What if I experience technical problems when I try to enter my appointment or during my appointment?  Please e-mail onlinetutor@csustan.edu if you experience technical problems at any point before or during your online appointment.

What if I need to cancel an appointment? You are able to cancel an online appointment up to 15 minutes before the appointment start-time.  Please log back into csustan.mywconline.edu and cancel your appointment there.  Failing to cancel after that time will result in a "missed" appointment. 

If you miss your appointment 2 times during a semester, you will be blocked from making any further online tutoring appointments for that semester until you communicate with the Online Tutoring Coordinator.  If you have questions about this or need to contact the Online Tutoring Coordinator, please send an email to onlinetutor@csustan.edu

What if I forget to cancel?  Your tutor will wait for 10 minutes after your appointment start time before marking your appointment as "missed" and will delete your appointment.
