Eric Broadwater

Professor Broadwater is the Department of Theatre's resident Scenic Designer, who comes to CSU Stanislaus from teaching at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, NC where he was head of the Design/Tech area for the theatre dept. His courses at CSU Stanislaus include: Stagecraft II, Fundamentals of Scenic Design, Children's Theatre, Introduction to Theatre, and American Theatre.

Professor Broadwater has been painting and designing professionally for more than 10 years in theatre, television and film, and has worked all over the country for local and regional theaters, such as: Plano Rep, TX., Pennsylvania Center Stage, PA., and the Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

He earned his BFA in Scenic Design from Southern Oregon University and his MFA in Scenic Design from Penn State. Since his arrival at CSU Stanislaus, in addition to his numerous designs for the Department of Theatre, he has also been commissioned to work for local performing arts organizations like Townsend Opera Players in Modesto, an opportunity that he has used to connect our technical theatre students to those organizations. Recently, Professor Broadwater was commissioned to design the set for the Chicago premier of Michael Hollinger’s OPUS  with the Redtwist Theatre Co. in Chicago and world premiere of Michael John LaChiusa's Sukie & Sue: Their Story, at The Blank Theatre in Hollywood, CA.
