{Why Teach?}

Your future, Prepar(Ed.)

California needs teachers. If you want to teach, now is the time to begin preparations for your career.

At CSU Stanislaus, we equip you with everything you need to become a teacher. We consider our University a one-stop shop for aspiring educators.

To teach in California, you must meet certain requirements, depending on what — and who — you plan to teach.

In general, teachers must have a California teaching credential, which is obtained after earning a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited University and completing a teacher preparation program. A basic skills requirement, which is traditionally met by passing the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), is also required for most teachers.

Depending on your teaching aspirations, you may need to fulfill more specific requirements.
