Should I Attend NSO in Turlock or Stockton?
If you plan to take most of your classes at the Turlock campus, we recommend you attend a Turlock NSO, which is held from 7:45 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. Turlock NSOs offer optional workshops including loan counseling. All Liberal Studies majors must attend a Turlock NSO.
If you plan to take the majority of your classes at the Stockton campus, we recommend that you attend a Stockton NSO, which is held from 2:30 p.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m. Please keep in mind that by taking classes exclusively at the Stockton campus, students can only graduate in the following majors: Applied Studies, Child Development, Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Criminal Justice, History, Communication Studies, Psychology, and Social Sciences. For more information regarding the Stockton NSO, please contact the NSO office at (209) 664-6757 or nso@csustan.edu. |

The English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Math (ELM) Exam
Please refer to our Website: www.csustan.edu/testing
All entering undergraduates who are not exempt from the English Placement Test (EPT) and/or the Entry Level Mathematics Test (ELM) must take them prior to enrollment in any classes at CSU Stanislaus. You may register for orientation, but exemption from the tests and/or your placement test scores must be recorded by the University prior to your orientation date. To attend the upcoming orientations, you must take your EPT/ELM tests
by the dates indicated above. |

| The Writing Proficiency Screening Test (WPST) |
In addition to satisfactory completion of all General Education Communication Skills requirements, all students must demonstrate competency in writing skills as a requirement for graduation. To do so, they must complete the WPST with a passing score and then pass an upper division writing proficiency (WP) course with a C- or better.
All students are advised to take the WPST upon completion of general education areas A2 (First Year Composition) and A3 (either Critical or Philosophical Inquiry). Information about the test, registration forms, test dates and registration deadlines, a sample question and two passing essays are available on our website www.csustan.edu/wpst.
There is a $25.00 fee for this test. If you register before the deadline you are guaranteed a seat on the test day. Same day test registration is very limited and there is an additional $25.00 late fee in addition to the regular test fee.
If you have additional questions, call (209) 667-3069. |
