Hi! My name is Jesus Verdugo, but most of the time people refer to me as Chuy. I am very excited to continue to work with Student Support Services and will give my upmost dedication to make this a wonderful experience for all of you!  I graduated from Patterson High and came to CSU Stanislaus as an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) admit in 2000. I am a former EOP, Summer Bridge, and SSS student and have worked in multiple areas on campus both as a student and as a professional. The advisors in EOP were my link to SSS. I became an SSS student in 2002 and later graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a B.A. in Spanish.

I myself am a first generation, low-income, "Latina" college student and if I did it, so can you!  Si Se Puede! Truly believe in yourself and others will begin to do the same. Shortly after, you will see many doors open for you with wonderful opportunities.  I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your career goals.

Nicole Brown

Writing Specialist
E-mail: writingspecialist@csustan.edu

Hi my name is Nicole Brown, and I am the new Writing Specialist for Student Support Services (SSS).  I am an alumnus of California State University, Stanislaus, which means I am a Warrior.  The Warrior spirit runs through my veins and gives me the strength and the courage to tackle any project, problem, or obstacle I encounter in my life’s journey.  It is the Warrior spirit that I hope to share with you.  It is my wish that SSS students thrive at the University and graduate with the knowledge that writing is powerful.  Writing allows us to share our voice and life experience with the rest of the world.   It is at CSU Stanislaus that received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English and my Master of Arts degree in English with a Rhetoric-Teaching Writing concentration.   I am here to assist SSS students with grammar, in-class assignments, reading, and writing.  I will also conduct workshops on various topics such as WPST, CBEST, and Study Skills.  For you to get the most out of your time with me, make sure to bring all materials related to the assignment you wish to work on.   For example, if you are working on a research essay, bring the teacher’s instructions, the essay, and any relevant text associate with the assignment.  I look forward to meeting you and working with you on your writing.  You can make an appointment or you can just drop in.
