Class Descriptions

Ab Lab + Cardio
This class begins with a core intensive session designed to improve core strength and stability while toning the midsection.  Following the Ab Lab is an intense fat burning session designed to burn calories and improve muscle tone.

Boot Camp
A high intensity, sweat dripping, fun class. It is a class combined with isolation of certain group muscles, cardio intervals, and plyometrics. It is a full body workout, burning from 700 - 900 calories a class!

Conditioning
Test your strength and endurance with the next level of training.  This combined cardiovascular workout and total body training is challenging and feels like you're training one-on-one but with the fun of a group.  Great for all levels of fitness!

Cycling
Get your cardio kick with this low-impact indoor cycling class taught to energizing music and experience a cardio workout like never before.  This class lets you challenge your body like never before!

Fitness Challenge
This is a class based on doing cross fit type exercises for a certain amount of time, distance, or reps. This class can help people of all levels to be fit and provide friendly competition at the same time. Every week will be a new challenge and results of the fastest times or most amounts of reps in a given time frame will be posted. Great class for general strength, conditioning, and overall fitness.

Interval
Designed after competitive track workouts and modified for the Group-X setting, this class will use interval training styles to lower body fat percentage, increase fast twitch muscle, and increase cardiovascular capability.

Intro to Fitness
This is an introductory exercise class that will teach how to do several different exercises, when you should do them, how often to do them, and the suggested intensity for each exercise.  This class is set up with a logical sequence of exercises so that you will continue to progress throughout the semester.  We start in the stabilization stage of training, then progress to the muscular endurance stage, and then to power.  We will discuss the proper sets, reps, and intensity for hypertrophy (muscle growth), and maximal strength.  Though we will not do exercises for these two stages of training in this class.  This will all be mixed in with cardio exercise to provide a fun challenging environment that will help give you tools to work out on your own.

Kickbox Blast
Punch and kick your way to a leaner, toned body!  An exhilarating mix of traditional kickboxing classes and body sculpting exercises, this class will improve proprioception, muscle tone, weight loss, overall fitness, and boost your confidence.  Come join us, it's a BLAST!

Pilates
The six principles of Pilates (centering, control, flow, breath, precision, and concentration) are used to condition the body which helps to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination in the legs, abdominals, arms and back.

Plyometrics
Plyometrics are a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system.  Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innvervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, increase agility, and prevent injury.  In this class we will start with basic plyometric exercises and move to intermediate and advanced exercises as the semester progresses.

rip:60
This class is perfect for users of all levels.  Equipment quickly adjusts with every movement so you get the workout you want.  The weight-loss benefits of cardio exercises with the power-activating results of strength training exercises are used.  The majority of the workout is performed with your own body weight and suspension gear.  You'll develop incredible power endurance with explosive moves that maximize muscle activation.  Anyone, at any fitness level, can do it.

R.I.P.P.E.D.
This total body, high intensity style program, utilizing free weights, resistance and body weight, masterfully combines the components of R.I.P.P.E.D. - Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance as the workout portion along with Diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective.  The deliberate combination of the R.I.P.P.E.D. elements and how they are precisely organized in the class format provide the basis for the One Stop Body Shock System, by stimulating both, different energy systems and muscles in each workout segment, changing the focus and activities every 6 to 9 minutes.

Zumba & Zumba Toning
Join The Party!  NO DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!  Beginners, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced are all welcome!  What is Zumba® fitness?  The Zumba® fitness program is a fitness party with a contagious blend of Latin and international rhythms that provide a fun and effective workout that can burn up to 900 - 1,000 calories per class.  1 - 2 pound weights added for Zumba Toning.
