Fitness, Awareness & Nutrition

Get your first semester off to the right start with three easy steps.  Join us for one or all of the Freshman -15 FAN events and activities. Join other freshmen as you experience incredible workouts, expand your knowledge in health & fitness and you’ll receive awesome fitness gear!

FITNESS - Exercise Daily
A lifestyle rich in cardiovascular exercise and strength training can give you the energy you need to tackle each day. Take action now to take care of your body!  Get new workout ideas and set your fitness benchmarks with the help from staff. Grab your friends or meet new ones when you participate in our fun and exercise filled Fitness Week (dates TBD).   All activities give you the tools which can help you stay physically active most days of the week.

AWARENESS - Educate Yourself
Knowledge is power.  Attend the Freshman -15 FAN activities and group exercise classes to learn the essentials that you need to live a healthy active lifestyle and hopefully avoid gaining that 15 pounds your freshman year.  These can include Recreation Services, Counseling Services, Wellness Services, and Stress Management.  Participate in any of our special events.  Get an incredible workout in the Freshman Connections week (dates TBD).   

NUTRITION - Eat Right
The key to eating right is controlling your portion sizes and maintaining a well-balanced diet. Learn how to include a variety of nutritious fruits, vegetables and heart-healthy foods such as lean meats, fish and nuts.  Freshman -15 FAN classes and On-Campus Dining throughout this step are dedicated to helping you make healthy food choices and will coach you to avoid excessive weight gain during the holidays and heightened stressful times of the semester.

 

Participation Prize
1 workout in the Student Fitness Center Freshman -15 t-shirt
8 workouts during September in the Student Fitness Center StanRec Logo Travel Mug or Water Bottle
8 workouts during October in the Student Fitness Center Fitness Gear

 

Goals Reward (participated in each of the 3 program qualifiers)
Drawings for an iPod, $25.00 iTunes Gift Card, 30 minute massage

 

FAN Bonus Entries for drawings:

Participate in:
  • At least 1 Outdoor Adventure Trip
  • One Housing group event
  • At least one ASI IM sport
Attend:
  • One Outdoor Adventure Workshop
  • One StanRec Group Exercise Class
  • The FAN workshop with Counseling Services
Other qualifiers:
  • Get a physical at the Student Health Center
  • Donate blood

Download the form at the top of this page or pick up a form at the SRC.  Open to CSU Stanislaus freshmen (0 – 29 units completed).  There is no deadline to join!
