Halloween Spooktacular Book Drive
Phi Kappa Phi members and supporters donated more than 300 books to our Spooktacular Book Drive. Members Aerynn Dighton, Teri Lunt, and Janice Herring, and Administrative Coordinator Lori Winters, sorted and placed PKP bookplates in all of the books in preparation for the Village's Halloween Gala. This annual event provided a captive audience of children, from infants to teens, to whom we could give the books. Wendy Olmstead, Aerynn Dighton (in costume) and Janice Herring enjoyed distributing books at the event on Halloween evening, October 31, 2008. Approximately 200 books were given away. The remaining books will be stored for next year’s event. It was great to see the kids' faces light up as they found just the right book. Parents and grandparents were very appreciative. It was fun to collaborate with student housing, and foresee an annual partnership for this event.
