As Director of the Program for Academic and Career Excellence, I fully believe the first generation underserved and Hispanic students in our program are living the American dream, meticulously improving the situation of their families and their futures with each A or B earned in college a college course! For me, improving my situation meant returning to the University of Oklahoma to earn my Master's degree while beginning a career in student services back in 2008. Ever since then, I have been happily employed helping students achieve their academic and professional goals by taking advantage of every financial aid, benefit, and opportunity available to them. Shortly after arriving at CSU Stanislaus in 2010, I began another Master's degree in Counseling Education and my professional goals continue to evolve to help the students I serve in any way that I can.

I am a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus with a Masters in Education, concentration in School Counseling. My baccalaureate degree is in Sociology, concentration in Human Services. My background and experience fostered a passion for helping students reach their full potential, complete a baccalaureate degree, and become successful contributors to society.
I embrace the philosophy that academic advising is a vital and integral part of the education process. Advising is much more that than simply recommending appropriate courses so that students can earn their degrees in a timely manner. Comprehensive advising encourages students to develop clear and rational educational, career, and personal goals. It promotes the maximum academic, career, personal, and social development of every student.
As an advisor, I can be your primary resource regarding academic issues, opportunities, and programs, if you take the initiative to seek advice. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

California State University, Stanislaus has been my home away from home for almost five years. During that time, I have served multiple roles related to advising students regarding careers and academics. I realize that each student brings unique circumstances, backgrounds, and personalities. Individual differences are taken into considerations in order to serve students and help them make informed choices.
My goal regarding students is to encourage and aid those in need of assistance, challenge students not meeting their potential, and support students as they progress on their chosen path. Students can accomplish their goals if they commit to taking the needed steps and I value being a part of their journey.

As a member of the California State University, Stanislaus community for nearly seven years I have gained a wide breadth of experience that I am able to incorporate into my approach as an Academic Advisor for the Program for Academic and Career Excellence (PACE). I believe that as an Academic Advisor, it is important to work together with students to create a tailored academic plan that facilitates the successful completion of their academic and, ultimately, career goals. My focus is not just on helping students navigate the journey of undergraduate coursework, but doing so in a manner that will help students to be successful after graduation.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Organizational Communication and Public Relations with a minor in Psychology in 2010 from CSU Stanislaus. Currently, I am working on my Master of Public Administration Degree, also at CSU Stanislaus. My educational experience here at CSU Stanislaus has given me the opportunity to appreciate the advantages as well as the challenges that students may encounter as part of a diverse student body.
Students are entering an increasingly competitive job market upon graduation and it is important that they utilize opportunities during their undergraduate coursework to gain valuable skills inside and out of the classroom. I encourage current and potential PACE participants to visit our program to receive resource guidance that will help them achieve their academic and career goals, whether that be graduate school or entering the job market.

I have been working at CSU Stanislaus for 12 years and I am proud to say that I am a Warrior. I have experience in several departments on campus and have spent many hours working on campus fundraisers, such as the Warrior Crab Feed and the Warrior Baseball FanFest. I am excited to be a part of creating the PACE program and being able to work directly with students. I believe that my knowledge of campus will be a benefit to PACE program participants. If you have suggestions on ways that our program can better serve your needs as a student, please feel free to visit me in MSR245 or email me at email@example.com
