Performance in a senior recital
is the culmination of four years of applied music study. Students are encouraged
to share a recital date with another senior. When a student is given permission by
the jury to perform in a senior recital, the following procedures should be followed:
- At the end of the spring semester
of the junior year, the student, in consultation with the Chair and applied instructor,
should decide on a recital date.
- With the help of the applied instructor,
the student should select recital repertoire.
- As early as possible, the student
should secure an accompanist with the aid of the individual teacher and the Coordinator
of Keyboard Studies. The Department of Music does not provide accompanists for senior
recitals; each student is responsible to make financial arrangements with his accompanist.
- At least two months before the
recital date the student should pick a Senior Recital Comprehensive Schedule from
the department secretary and begin to make final preparations for the recital.
- In the semester of the recital,
the student should register for Music 4910 -- Senior Recital or Project in addition
to the appropriate advanced level of applied study.
- The selection of the recital date
constitutes a contract for that date with the Music Department. Due to scheduling
and publicity complexities, the Department discourages any changes. If the Department
approves of any date change, there will be a $30.00 fee levied, in addition to the
normal recital fees. Consult the Department office for the current recital fee schedule.
- It is the Departments policy that
all senior recitals or projects be presented on the Stanislaus State campus. Any
exceptions must be presented to the Department faculty for approval.
- It is the Department policy that
a student sign into MUS 4900 - Senior Recital only during the semester the recital
will be completed.
- Summer recitals are not permitted.
Senior/Graduate Recitals are permitted only during the normal academic terms of Fall,
Winter, and Spring.
- The Department will assign a three-member
faculty committee which will include the appropriate applied faculty to evaluate
and grade the senior recital.
