Single Subjects Credential ProgramThose of you who plan on teaching at the high school level should periodically check out their information to make sure that you have taken the appropriate classes for admission to the program.
Subject Matter AuthorizationsThe Supplementary Authorization is not NCLB compliant. What is NCLB compliant is the new Subject Matter Authorization, which requires 32 units of of non-remedial mathematics courses in each of five areas. The Liberal Studies degree with a Concentration in Mathematics by itself does not meet the new requirements. For most (but not all) LIBS students, the new requirements mean an additional course in probability and statistics.
California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET)California teaching credential candidates are required to verify their subject matter knowledge and competencies by completing a program of subject matter preparation approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), or passing one or more subject matter examinations. The CSET and Single Subject Assessments for Teaching are two testing programs used by the CCTC for this purpose. Be sure to click on the link for practice exams, there are no study guides that I can endorse at the moment.
