| EXERCISES
There will be a number of exercises assigned throughout the semester, some will be done in-class, other (such as those outlined on the schedule) will be done outside of class and collected on the date indicated. These may be done individually or in pairs. Together with attendance, these exercises are worth ten percent of the student's grade. CRITICAL PAPER One other exercise, the critical paper, must be done individually. Find an empirical research article published from January 2001-present in one of the following journals (either online or in the Vasche library):
Read the article carefully, and then write a critical paper (no fewer than 3 pages double-spaced no larger than 11 point Times new Roman, no greater than 1" margins all around - boy, am I a stickler) assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the paper. Be particularly attuned to the way the author(s) have defined the constructs they've used, and how that impacts the findings. Interpret the findings in your own words, and suggest an extension or application of the findings above and beyond what is already included in the paper itself. Attach a copy of the paper you've chosen. The critical paper is due November 26, but should be selected and started near the beginning of the semester, and revisisted as we approach each of the topical areas of the research process. _____________________________ 1. Probably the most straightforward writing styles in these journals 2. Contains some of the weirder material, if that's what you're into |
