Research • Activity I

The goal of Activity One is to improve student performance in mathematics and math-dependent courses through the implementation of Supplemental Instruction (SI). Research supports the goal of Activity One by evaluating student performance in targeted sections every semester. Data collected from each campus allows us to determine the overall success of SI in improving grades and retention. We are able to compare retention and final grades earned by students who attended SI with retention and grades of students who do not attend. In addition, we conduct surveys and focus groups to determine student satisfaction throughout the semester. We use feedback from students to refine our program to better meet students’ needs. Through research, we hope to strengthen our program and provide measurable results to administrators at each participating institution.
