This is an internship-type position as a Writing Assistant. The chosen student will work under the supervision of the Coordinator of Communications and Marketing in the Graduate School, and will assist with the production of various communications materials.

This fellowship is in the amount of $1,500 for the Spring 2007 semester. Fellowship funds are meant to defray the costs of tuition and books.

The goal of this fellowship is to provide an exceptional student with an enriched program and practical experiences related to the fields of writing, editing, and marketing. The student will be expected to meet deadlines and maintain a professional demeanor.

The student chosen will conduct research and write/edit copy for a variety of materials, including but not limited to the following:

  • The Graduate School Web site
  • Promotional materials for individual graduate programs and/or for the Graduate School as a whole (brochures, mailers, newspaper ads, etc.)
  • The Graduate School newsletter
  • Communications materials, including letters and emails, for both internal and external audiences.

To be considered, a student must:

  • be admitted and enrolled as a classified graduate student in a master’s degree program at CSU Stanislaus (English or a related field preferred, but not required).
  • maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while receiving the award.
  • provide a résumé of related experience, academic and/or professional.
  • provide a one- to two-page writing sample.
  • provide two letters of recommendation from CSU Stanislaus faculty members attesting to the student’s superior academic achievement and writing/editing skills.
  • be recommended by his/her graduate program coordinator/director.

Students must submit all of the above materials to Alyssa Mazzina in the Graduate School (MSR 160) before 5:00 pm on February 16, 2007 to be considered for the fellowship.
