What is the First-Year Experience Program?
- Students join a learning community of 25 students who take classes together.
- Classes are integrated around an interesting theme and linked to a seminar that prepares them for academic success and encourages involvement in campus activities.
- The seminar is co-taught by faculty and peer leaders who serve as mentors.
- All classes, including the seminar, fulfill General Education requirements.
How is the First-Year Experience Program Organized?
The FYE Program has 2 options:
OPTION 1: Two integrated General Education classes paired with a seminar that also fulfills a General Education requirement.
OPTION 2: One General Education class paired with a seminar that also fulfills a General Education requirement.
Why should I join?
- All classes will fulfill GE requirements
- You will get to know faculty. Faculty teach the paired classes and also the seminar.
- You will make new friends. The same 25 students take all the classes in the learning community together.
- You will be mentored by a peer leader, a junior or a senior who is a successful CSU Stanislaus student who can help you get adjusted to campus.
- You will become acquainted with campus resources.
- You will become involved in out-of-class activities.
