What is the First-Year Experience Program?
  • Students join a learning community of 25 students who take classes together.
  • Classes are integrated around an interesting theme and linked to a seminar that prepares them for academic success and encourages involvement in campus activities.
  • The seminar is co-taught by faculty and peer leaders who serve as mentors.
  • All classes, including the seminar, fulfill General Education requirements.

How is the First-Year Experience Program Organized?

The FYE Program has 2 options:

OPTION 1: Two integrated General Education classes paired with a seminar that also fulfills a General Education requirement.

OPTION 2: One General Education class paired with a seminar that also fulfills a General Education requirement.

Why should I join?

  • All classes will fulfill GE requirements
  • You will get to know faculty. Faculty teach the paired classes and also the seminar.
  • You will make new friends. The same 25 students take all the classes in the learning community together.
  • You will be mentored by a peer leader, a junior or a senior who is a successful CSU Stanislaus student who can help you get adjusted to campus.
  • You will become acquainted with campus resources.
  • You will become involved in out-of-class activities.
