The Campus Master Plan was last updated in 1968. Variations from this plan were accommodating current needs, but the need for a new vision was apparent. The Turlock campus currently occupies approximately 228 acres of property. The current Master Plan depicts existing and future facilities of the campus and is based on an enrollment cap of 12,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) students, or an approximate student headcount of 15,000.
This project began in fall 2004 with the development of a Steering Committee to create the Goal Statement and Guiding Principles of the project. In fall of 2005 the project was placed on hold due to a change in leadership, and picked up again in November 2007.
On March 24, 2009 the CSU Board of Trustees approved the Final Environmental Impact Report and 2009 Campus Master Plan.
