Loans for Graduate Students
Starting July 2012, the Budget Control Act of 2011 made changes to the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. Specifically, the Budget Control Act eliminated graduate or professional student eligibility for Direct Subsidized Loans effective for loans with loan periods beginning on or after July 1, 2012.
To get a loan, you must be ENROLLED (not waitlisted) at least half-time at CSU Stanislaus. To keep your loan, you must STAY enrolled half-time. To avoid going into repayment, you must STAY enrolled half-time each semester. Half time for undergraduates, credential students, students working on a 2nd baccalaureate degree, and post-baccalaureate unclassified students is defined as 6 units. Half time for graduate professional and doctorate students is 4 units.
Federal Direct Loan Program
Beginning in Fall 2010, CSU Stanislaus will participate in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program. You will now get your Stafford (Subsidized or Unsubsidized) and PLUS (parent) Loans directly through the U.S. Department of Education, rather than through a bank or lender participating in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), such as Bank of America, Citibank and Wells Fargo.
