FACULTY POSITION
California State University Stanislaus

POSITION: The Department of English invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with emphases in secondary education and TESOL. The ideal candidate would combine secondary education teaching experience with training in ESL, TESOL, and/or applied linguistics. In addition to teaching, research, and service obligations, duties may include advising and outreach activities associated with a state-approved Single Subject Matter Preparation Program. Effective teaching is a priority; scholarly productivity and service to the university are also required for retention, promotion, and tenure.  This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph. D. in English, English Education, TESOL, or related field is required. Other minimum qualifications include demonstrated successful teaching at the secondary and/or college levels.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
A candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of expertise in TESOL and Second Language Acquisition theory, relevant research and publication, college-level teaching experience, international teaching experience, and/or a minimum two years secondary school teaching. As part of a “Hispanic-Serving Institution,” the department is especially interested in candidates with experience teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

Please indicate if you will be attending MLA in Seattle. Writing sample may be requested after initial screening. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
