FACULTY POSITION
California State University Stanislaus

POSITION: The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in microbiology.  The primary teaching responsibilities of the person appointed to this position are general microbiology (bacteriology) and associated laboratories, medical microbiology, and immunology.  The ability to teach cellular and molecular biology or other courses in the successful candidate's area of expertise is desirable.  Other possible course assignments are non-major and major biology courses, including introductory biology and evolution, based upon the qualifications of the individual hired and the need of the department.  The individual hired for this position will advise biology majors in the clinical laboratory science option and act as liaison to the clinical community.  Additional duties will include research and related scholarly activities and service including academic advising and serving on departmental and university committees.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum education requirement is a Ph.D. or equivalent in microbiology or related field.  ABD candidates will be considered, but they must complete their doctoral degree before appointment.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have post-doctoral experience and demonstrated expertise in area of specialty, evidence of interest in teaching and teaching excellence, a record of research productivity and the potential to secure research funding.  Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in medical microbiology or microbial pathogenesis.  Evidence of teaching excellence at the college-level in microbiology, including general microbiology, medical microbiology, immunology, and cellular and molecular biology is also desirable.
