POSITION:
|
LECTURER IN PORTUGUESE: The Modern Languages program invites applications for a part-time appointment in Portuguese. Evidence of effective teaching required. Candidate should be prepared to teach Elementary and Intermediate Portuguese. Students earn 4 units in Elementary Portuguese and 3 units in Intermediate Portuguese. Appointment begins January 24, 2012. |
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:

An M.A. required with concentration in Portuguese. Successful teaching experience reflecting a level of instruction germane to this position. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
A candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by evidence of successful elementary-level instruction in Portuguese, and the ability to work with a diverse student population in a multicultural setting. |

COMPENSATION:
|
Salary is dependent on level of educational attainment and teaching experience. Per unit salary range: $1400 to $1650 ($5600 to $6600 for a 4 unit course; $4200 to $4950 for a 3 unit course); contracts for 6+ units of teaching in a semester earn full benefits (October thru March for Fall appointments; March thru August for Spring appointments; October thru September for academic year appointments). |
| ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT and THE COLLEGE: The Department of Philosophy and Modern Languages at CSU Stanislaus serves majors in Philosophy and Spanish. There is a Portuguese minor on the books, but student demand is insufficient to support a full-fledged offering of the curriculum at this time. The department also supports language instruction in Italian and American Sign Language. |
