Student Information
Eligibility
All students who have an approved Application for Graduation and completed all course work in the Fall of 2012, and Spring of 2013 are eligible to participate in the 2013 Commencement.
Student Speaker
Three students will be selected as student commencement speakers, one for each ceremony. Graduating seniors or graduate students interested in applying for Student Speaker for the Commencement should submit:
- A completed application form.doc
- A draft of proposed speech
Completed packet must be delivered to the Department of Communication Studies by 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013. Send packet to Dr. Keith Nainby, Department of Communication Studies, Demergasso-Bava Hall, Room 125, CSU Stanislaus, Turlock, CA, 95382.
The Commencement speech should be roughly 5 minutes in length, focus on graduation, and be of broad general interest for graduates, family members, faculty, administrators, and guests.
Academic Regalia
All candidates for graduation may obtain academic regalia from the University Bookstore beginning March 26.
Bachelor's Cap/Gown/Tassel will be $39.98
Master's Cap/Gown/Tassel will be $40.98
Master's Hood will be $29.98
(PRE-ORDERING IS NOT REQUIRED) Gold honor cords will be issued to students graduating Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude. The bookstore will have the eligible student list.
Honor Cords – Candidates graduating with honors will wear gold cords, and receive recognition in the ceremony and official program. The university bookstore will have a listing of eligible honor candidates through the 2013 Winter Term.
Orientation
Candidates are encouraged to attend one of the graduation rehearsals, scheduled for 6:00pm Wednesday, May 29 and 10:00am Thursday, May 30 in the University Amphitheatre.
Procession Assembly
Masters, doctorate and credential candidates will meet Thursday, May 30, at 4:30pm in front of Bizzini Hall (formerly the classroom building). Baccalaureate candidates for graduation will meet Friday, May 31 at 7:00am or 11:00am, depending on their college (see main page for participating colleges times) in front of Bizzini Hall. All candidates need to arrive with academic regalia, to prepare for the academic procession. Commencement programs and processional information will be provided. Announcements
Personalized graduation announcements may be purchased at the University Bookstore.
Class Rings
Graduation class rings can be ordered through the University Bookstore or from the Balfour representative.
Photographs
Grad Images will take professional photographs of the graduates. Within one week following Commencement, each graduate will receive in the mail a free color proof and may purchase additional photos at a reasonable cost. Proofs can also be viewed online. Individual orders will be processed within 14 days of receipt.
You can also preregister with Grad Images prior to the ceremony. This allows you to provide email and mailing address information to help share the good news and the photos! Graduation Images will contact them just as soon as their photos are available for online viewing and ordering.
