Center for Economic Education

The director of this center feels that everyone would benefit from a basic understanding of how the economy works. An understanding of economic principles is vital to people as consumers, producers, savers, investors, taxpayers and voters. The Center for Economic Education at California State University, Stanislaus is one of a network of centers throughout the country that are set up to improve economic education. In the past the Center has supported area schools by providing workshops, provided teaching materials and has acted as a center for disseminating material on economic principles and economic education.

The CEE at California State University, Stanislaus director is Dr. Elaine Peterson. Please feel free to contact Dr. Peterson with any questions or suggestions you may have. In addition you can visit Dr. Elaine Peterson's Webpage.

In 1997 we conducted a mail survey of local area economics teachers. The potential center activity ranked the highest in our survey of area teachers was a library of resources such as videos, teaching kits, and information on economics games.

Therefore we are currently reviewing the resources we have and working on creating a checkout system. In the mean time if you are in the CSU Stanislaus area please feel free to come by, visit, review, and borrow our materials. (We currently informally lend out materials if you leave your name, address and phone number.) We are located in the Economics Department on the CSU, Stanislaus Campus. The address is:

California State University Stanislaus
Economics Dept. C101 Bizzini Hall
One University Circle
Turlock, CA 95382

We are also seeking information to be used to develop a Center that will support economic education in area schools. We would like to hear from people who are involved with economic education in K-12 or have an interest in economic education. We would like to know what you are doing to improve economic literacy and how we may be able to support you.
