What is better time than now to build experiences? Employers want to see a variety of skills and environments in which you have applied them. This does not always refer only to paid work experience. Check out the many ways you can showcase what you are already doing and how you can get involved if you are not where you want to be yet.
Internships
An internship is an opportunity to work off campus and learn from professionals in the field. They are common opportunities that do not require a lot of past work experience, but you can be competitive by showcasing your course projects and understanding of the industry. Internships typically have a specified length of time, often over a summer or winter period, and there are Paid and Unpaid opportunities. Some may take place over the year, depending on the organization. Some internships offer course credit that would need to be approved by the Office of Service Learning and your Academic Department.
Micro-Internships
California State University, Stanislaus is excited to announce a new partnership with Parker Dewey who pioneered the concept of Micro-Internships. Micro-Internships are short-term, professional, paid work experiences many of which can be completed remotely.
Through Micro-Internships, you can demonstrate your skills, explore career paths, and develop your professional network. These paid opportunities typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are available all year-round.

Your Coursework
General Education courses and your major's coursework help you develop a plethora of relevant skills. Do not ignore the hard work you put in towards graduation. Write these experiences in your resume and showcase the skills used on your resume and LinkedIn Profile or chosen portfolio.
