| Moving around your Blackboard course is easy. Click the links or buttons on the left side of the page. Clicking takes you to different areas of Blackboard where instructors can place information like the syllabus, lecture notes, assignments, readings or other course materials. Instructors can customize these links, so the names and appearance may be different from course to course. |

| Announcements |
| Your instructor's announcements usually appear on the course entry page for one week. You can see other announcements by clicking the tabs on the Announcements page (View Today, View Last 7 Days, View Last 30 Days, View All). |

| Content Areas |
The content link names on the navigation bar may be individualized by your instructor. Content areas may contain word-processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, PDF files, links, or plain text boxes. Your instructor can also place external links, tests and surveys, assignment links, and additional content in these pages, either as individual links for folders.
Click the folder or link name to see or download the content.
Browsers display text boxes, Web-Page files, and PDF documents in the Blackboard content frame. Most other files will download to your computer. Some computers open them with the appropriate computer application; others will require you to open the files individually (see Plugins & Readers). |

| Communication |
| The Communication section is usually in the Tool module on the navigation frame. You can send email, enter the discussion forums and group pages, and use other communication tools your instructor has turned on. |

| Course Tools |
In the Course Tools area you can set up a course calendar, check your grades (My Grades), use the Scholar bookmarking pages, or tools like your eInstruction clickers or Pronto when they are available.
Note: The Communication and Course Tools areas are flexible. Each instructor chooses which components to include in the class. You may be able to find a tool in one Blackboard course but not in another. |
