Blackboard 8 includes a Grade Center for student information, grades, calculations, and statistics. Through the Grade Center, the instructor can access student work, record grades, and provide feedback to the students about their submitted assignments and tests.Within the Grade Center, the instructor can send students email and generate reports. The Grade Center has different views for grade analysis.

The Grade Center page contains spreadsheet-like grid with vertical columns and horizontal rows. W here a column and a row intersect is a cell. Graded items are displayed as columns, whilc each row represents a student. You can enter individual student's grades directly into the cell for an item.

The students’ information is automatically displayed in the Grade Center after the students are added to your Bb course roster. Although you cannot add or remove a student from the Grade Center, you can use the Enroll User or Remove Users from Course in the Control Panel.

The Grade Center displays each student’s Last Name, First Name, Username, Student ID, Last Access, and Availability in the left columns. The Last Name and First Name columns are frozen, they remain visible when you scroll to the right. When you add assignments or assessments in the content areas, they appear in the Grade Center columns. (In the picture below, there are no grade items shown). You also see a Weighted Total grade column and a Total grade column.
