CSU Stanislaus faculty and student researchers have had the opportunity to work on various biotechnology projects in conjunction with companies such as E.&J. Gallo Winery, Hilmar Cheese Co. , Salida Wastewater, and California Animal Health and Food Safety. These researchers also collaborate with colleagues at other higher education institutions like UC Davis, UC San Francisco, and CSU Sacramento, to name a few.
Other collaborative efforts
- The University’s Council for Sustainable Futures operated by the College of Humanities & Social Sciences sponsors programs and events in the hopes of fostering lasting commitments to the environment.
- The University launched the Genetic Counseling program in collaboration with UC San Francisco, San Francisco State University, and Kaiser Permanente. Through Dr. Youngblom, CSU Stanislaus is involved with the CSU Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB).
- The University is exploring opportunities to partner with Merced College, so students can transfer to CSU Stanislaus and study biotechnology after completing Merced College’s A.S. degree program in biotechnology.
- CSU Stanislaus has had a longstanding relationship with E.&J. Gallo Winery. The University has collaborated with the winemaking giant in the study of wine proteins, benefitting faculty and student research while also helping improve upon Gallo’s award-winning wines.

A recent study conducted by Thompson Reuters and the Biotechnology Industry Organization found that 64 percent of participants state that now is a “good” or “very good” time to invest in biotech.
