ENTRY PROCEDURES

1. ROSTERS

  1. Secure a team roster from the Recreation and Wellness office located in the University Student Union or online on the ASI Recreation & Wellness website.
  2. Return the completed roster form along with the $5 per participant fee and $20 forfeit fee or submit your roster online and pay the associated fees before the first game of the intramural season. You will receive information regarding the rules and the mandatory captain's meeting before the specified deadline.
  3. Game schedules will be available within a week after the roster submission deadline.

2. CAPTAIN’S RESPONSIBILITY

Team captains must have an active email account, phone number, and answering machine. The captain serves as the link between the players and the intramural staff. Captains are responsible for notifying teammates about rules, game times, scheduling changes, etc. It is the captain's responsibility to verify the eligibility of each player on his/her team and make sure that before signing the roster, each team member has read and understands the waiver at the bottom of the roster form. Any questions regarding the wavier should be directed the Recreation & Wellness program.

A mandatory captain’s meeting is held for each sport before the start of the season. Each team must be represented at this meeting. It is the captain’s responsibility to make sure someone from the team attends if he/she cannot make it. League schedules, rules, and other important information will be discussed at the meeting. Any team absent from the meeting is still held responsible for knowing all the information covered.

Captains must control their own behavior, and also must assert some control over the behaviors of their teammates, coaches, and fans. Captains represent the team with the intramural staff and are the only players allowed to formally protest calls. Judgment calls cannot be protested, only rule interpretations.

3. FREE AGENT PROGRAM

During registration time potential participants who do not wish to put together a team may sign-up to become free agents. Sign-up slips will be filled out and placed on the free agent wall. All throughout the semester teams can select participants off the wall and place them of their team if open roster spots still remain. Acquired free agents will be required to pay the $5 participation fee.

4. COMPLETED ROSTERS:

All entry forms must be filled out completely. Players may be added to the roster up until the second game of the season. Players may participate for only one team per sport and thus can only appear on only one roster. Once you have played for one team, you cannot switch to another.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. FORFEIT POLICY

A team or individual not ready to play at the scheduled location and time shall automatically forfeit the contest. Game time is forfeit time. Each team will be allowed one forfeit, but any subsequent forfeits will result in the loss of the team forfeit fee. A team will be eliminated from league play if excessive forfeits occur, no excuses. Starting time may be extended at the discretion of the Coordinator in the event of inclement weather, department scheduling error/conflict, or some other unforeseen incident. Forfeit losses will be issued for:

  1. Use of ineligible players (see Eligibility), or failure to meet the gender requirements.
  2. Unofficial rescheduling of a contest.
  3. Non-appearance/tardiness at a scheduled contest, or failure to present a valid ID card.
  4. Unsportsmanlike behavior (see Conduct section).
  5. Any detectable signs of substance abuse.

Games which are completed prior to a team being dropped from the league for forfeits shall remain official, while games not yet played will be recorded as "wins" for the opposing team. At the end of the season, eligible teams will be refunded their $20 forfeit fee.

2. ELIGIBILITY

All current students and alumni of California State University, Stanislaus, along with faculty and staff, are eligible to compete in intramurals. The Recreation & Wellness office will endeavor to check the validity of all participants. Team captains are however, ultimately responsible for a team member's eligibility. All players must have a current California State University, Stanislaus ID, or alumni card created by the Intramural Coordinator, and present it before each game to be eligible to play; No Exceptions.

All players must appear on the roster with their complete name. Teams may not drop players from their rosters after the second week of play, but additions may be made throughout the semester so long as open roster spots remain available. Participants may only play for one team. Any infraction of these rules will result in the expulsion of that player, the team will be penalized with a forfeit, and that team will be put under probation. Any team under probation will be closely monitored, and is subject to expulsion on their next offense.

All intramural sports are open to all California State University, Stanislaus participants regardless of gender or ability. Co-ed teams will require at least one player of each gender. There is no maximum. All substitutions must be made in a manner which maintains the required minimum.

The Recreation & Wellness program does not provide insurance for individuals participating in the program. All participants are encouraged to have health insurance coverage in place before participating in the program.

Injured participants may return to competition, with approval of the sport supervisor or official, once the wound has been treated and/or the blood-stained clothing removed. 6. EVOLUTION

The Recreation & Wellness department of the Associated Students, Inc. wants to meet the needs of the students. At times, those needs become difficult to identify. For recreation to evolve, the students must be active and voice their opinions concerning what they want from recreation. We have committed ourselves to making recreation a quality program. It is affiliated with the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), a member driven organization that is on the cutting edge of recreational sports. There will always be an Open Door policy.
