Finding Nature

November 13- December 6, 2001

Local artist Tinna Savini paints expansive, lusciously colored, gestural abstractions. Inspired by the immense beauty of California’s natural landscape and the uniquely golden, luminous quality of light, she creates diptych paintings that juxtapose nature and landscape on one panel, with expressive figurative or human presence in the other. These paired elements combine to convey an archetypal sense of meaning rather than a specific subject.

An emerging artist and graduate of the Stanislaus State’s Art Department, with an MFA from the San Jose State University, Savini has been gaining rapid national and international recognition for her work. In 1999, she was in the Biennale Internazionale Dell’Art Contemporanea in Florence, Italy, she was awarded the “Lorenzo de Medici Medal in Painting.” Her work was featured in the December 2000 issue of Art & Antiques Magazine.
