A Ten-Year Evolution

  • November 7 – December 19, 2006
  • Reception on November 9 from 6:30-8:00 pm
  • Artist talk at 7:00 pm

Alexander Couwenberg is a painter whose works are a product of his obsession over process. Applying paint to a surface and the experiences and techniques that occur in creating an image are the purest form of motivation. The inspiration for this body of work is his appreciation for paint, pin striping, and finish associated with hot rod and car culture, mid-century design, and a love of materials to name a few. These paintings diagram the process of paint application and the interpretation of how these influences manifest themselves in the form of color, shape, texture and space.
