M.A. in Education with Emphasis in Educational Technology
The department of Advanced Studies in Education has received approval for an M.A. in Education with emphasis in Educational Technology. The program entails 32 units including education core courses, educational technology coursework (EDIT 4710, EDIT 4720, EDIT 5100, EDIT 5200, EDIT 5300), several units of electives, and a project or thesis. The core education courses are offered on a yearly basis in both Turlock and in Stockton. All of the courses in the Master's program are offered in the evenings/nights, online, or a combination of a small number of Friday late afternoons/early evenings plus online work. Most students in the program teach full-time, so coursework is designed to meet their scheduling needs. Currently, EDIT 4720 is the only course of those listed above that is offered only in Turlock. All of the others meet in Turlock and Stockton, meet at remote sites via Interactive Television, or are online.

Other Graduate Opportunities
One of the available options is to enroll in the M.A. in Education program, with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction (Elementary or Secondary). This degree option is offered through the department of Teacher Education. Although there are several core courses and electives that are required in the program, it allows for 3-7 units worth of electives. In addition, the project or thesis could have a strong technology base as well.
The other option is a major in Interdisciplinary Studies. This is a very flexible major in which students create their own program of study spanning at least two academic areas. Coursework can be catered to career goals. The major allows for up to 9 independent study units, which creates opportunity for the exploration of topics that are not currently offered at CSU, Stanislaus. The program of study created by the student must be different from what is offered at any Northern California Higher Education Institutions. It is possible to combine coursework in Educational Technology with other courses with this degree option. For more information, you can contact the Graduate Studies office (209-667-3129).
