Course Descriptions for EDIT
EDIT 4170: Educational Technology Foundations
This course focuses on the development of technology proficiencies. Students develop strategies and skills for teaching with technology in K-12 settings. Prerequisite: CS 2000 or equivalent. This course, in addition to credential coursework, satisfies the preliminary credential technology requirement for students entering the MSCP or SSCP program on or after Winter 2004. It also fulfills requirements for those getting an Education Specialist credential and for those entering the School Counseling program.
EDIT 4710: Advanced Technology Integration Strategies
Students will become familiar with various technologies and strategies for effectively integrating them into K-12 curriculum. The focus of EDIT 4710 is to emphasize the importance of matching software to curriculum, content standards, and also to student needs. The course will partially satisfy the requirements for obtaining a Supplementary Authorization in Computer Concepts and Applications, and it is part of the required technology core for the M.A. in Education with emphasis in Educational Technology. This course satisfies the Level II technology requirement for students receiving their Preliminary Teaching Credential after June 30, 2002.
EDIT 4720: Multimedia Development in Education
This course is designed to help practicing and future teachers integrate multimedia into school curriculum. The course focuses on instructional design, advanced multimedia development tools, peripherals, and video editing. Students create a multimedia project. Prerequisite: a current teaching credential or admission into teacher credential program. The course will partially satisfy the requirements for obtaining a Supplementary Authorization in Computer Concepts and Applications, and it is part of the required technology core for the M.A. in Education with emphasis in Educational Technology.
EDIT 5200: Educational Technology Issues
Ethical, social, financial, and legal implications of technology in education will be explored. The emphasis is on how technology impacts schools, students, and teachers.
EDIT 5300: The Technology Coordinator
Skills needed by school/district technology coordinators and mentors are developed in this class. Network configuration, hardware and software troubleshooting, staff development practices, and grant writing are featured.
EDIT 5400: Research in Educational Technology and Data Driven Decision Making
The course will examine current research trends in educational technology as well as use data to analyze, organize, and make decisions in education. Investigation will focus on a variety of forms of research and data pertinent to the impact of technology in teaching and learning.
