Your future is our future
The experts at our Advising resource Center care about helping you find a major program that fits your needs. And how about a one-on-one with a college dean to gain some insight and advising? It’s an option. Everyone on our campus is vested in your success. Explore your options at the Advising Resource Center Web site.
The G.E. advantage
O.K. You’re not sure about a major. That’s not a problem, though. It’s actually an advantage for you because you can explore your options by taking a variety of Lower- and Upper-Division General Education courses.
Once you’re exposed to a few classes in our General Education curriculum, you might learn that you want to study English or Business Administration, or you have developed a passion for one of the sciences.
Currently, the General Education Program requires students to complete 51 semester units — including nine upper-division units of selected courses within seven broad categories. Sounds like a perfect way to broaden your options.

It's not a school year,
it's an 'Experience'
it's an 'Experience'
Want to make new friends, get to know faculty, be mentored by a peer leader, and get acquainted with campus resources? Our First-Year Experience Program lets freshmen join a learning community of 25 students who take classes together.
Don’t be surprised if you’re not sure which major you wish to declare. Almost 24 percent of our freshmen are undecided, and later choose a program. You probably have dozens of interests and want to see which one offers the most for your future. Or you want to see which program points you in the direction of your ideal career. Either way, we have several resources available to you. Just glance at the back of this page.
At CSU Stanislaus, we offer more than 40 undergraduate programs in addition to 24 master’s degree programs, seven postbaccalaureate credentials, and a Doctor of Education program. It’s our belief that we have the programs to satisfy every student — even you!
Create a Special Major
Strongly motivated students may design a special BA/BS interdisciplinary academic program leading to a degree not offered through existing programs. Students interested in a Special Major should seek a volunteer faculty advisory committee consisting of three professors from at least two disciplines. A program designed jointly with this faculty committee is then submitted for approval on a request for Special Major Program form.
