U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (Congressional District 34-California) has put together a scholarship guide that is broken down per monthly deadlines. The binder is located at the Veteran Affairs Desk in MSR 120. Stop by and take a look.
HACU National Intership & Scholarship Program
HACU (Hispanic Association of College & Universities) has a national internship program along with scholarships that are specific for Veterans. Currently the Department of Veteran Affairs and other companies are looking for Veteran interns. Here is some information regarding their program:
Benefits of HNIP
Stipend of $450 - $550 per week, airfare, and housing arrangements. Orientation in Washington, D.C, including lodging and airfare. No application fee or tuition required to participate.
Requirements
All applications must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program; have completed their freshman year before the internships begins; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; be authorized to work in the United States.
The Internships & Scholarships
Internships and scholarships are available in nearly all fields of study, from business administration, to agricultural and environmental sciences, to communications and IT. Students work with a federal agency or corporation, in cities across the country, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. Internships are offered in Summer, Fall and Spring. Currently about 70% of all internships turn into permanent jobs.

All applications are done on line. You will need a copy of your official transcript, Certification of Enrollment (fee waived for all Veteran Students) and your resume.
Some tips that were give when applying: your resume should be no longer than 2 pages, when answering the essay questions remember to proof read and answer the question asked. They are looking for what you want to do for your future. |
