Josh Neal Memorial Scholarship
Josh Neal was able to use his creativity and his knowledge of operating systems to thrive in the Bay Area’s computer industry before his sudden passing in December 2007.
A 1998 CSU Stanislaus computer science alum, Neal quickly made a name for himself as a computer engineer and became a respected source of programming and networking knowledge while working with UNIX-based operating systems.
Now, those following Neal at CSU Stanislaus as the computer programmers of the future have more access to financial aid thanks to the establishment of the Josh Neal Memorial Scholarship. Josh’s parents, Janet and Joe Neal, established the scholarship as a way to honor their son and his devotion to computer science. One computer science student per year will be awarded $3,500 toward his/her schooling. The first scholarship was awarded for the Fall 2008 semester.
Marian Palmer
Nursing Scholarship Endowment
Marian Palmer loved to help others.
Before her passing in 2006, Palmer spent one-quarter of a century supporting California State University, Stanislaus and served for a decade as a member of the University’s Foundation Board of Trustees. She was also a member of the University’s Advisory Board and a founding member of the Emanuel Medical Center Auxiliary, one of the largest hospital volunteer groups in the region.
Palmer’s passion for helping others is carried on through the Marian Palmer Nursing Scholarship Endowment, for which the University and its Foundation Board raised more than $450,000 from loyal donors and friends in 2007-08.
The money will help bolster the University’s Nursing Program, so that more nurses can help others in a selfless manner just as Marian Palmer did.
