aligning course objectives with those of
the College of Education, the outcomes of the EDMC 4130 Course are
as follows;
1. “. . . competent in their chosen areas”: students in EDMC will
strengthen science content understandings through content driven
activities. In addition, as elementary generalists,

understanding and science interest.
2. “. . . able to integrate subject-matter
content with pedagogy appropriate to their field of study”: through instructor
modeling, EDMC students will experience the nature of hands-on, minds-on
science learning. In addition, students
will learn how to infuse and integrate science into daily lesson plans.
3. “. . . culturally responsive and
responsible, knowledgeable, and appreciative of the diversity among learners,”:
EDMC students will be shown diverse literature, which supports science content,
to become knowledgeable of other cultures.
4. “. . .committed to self-assessment and
reflection”: EDMC students will be required to complete continuous
self-reflective journal entries as well as a discussion of daily activities and
exercises to facilitate the self-assessment process.
5. “. . . partners, educational advocates,
and leaders at the school level and in the wider community”: EDMC students will
study the progress of science education standards and mandates in order to have
a greater understanding of the importance of developing curricular goals that
align with those mandates.
6. “. . . users of technology that enhance
teaching and learning”: EDMC students will be given journal entry assignments
and theme reports that have a technology based research component, specifically
